Underground Fossils is run by Dimxsk and often by Trylemma, who is on a hip hop spiritual journey in the Himalayas and may not be back for a bit. Posts are every Friday, usually some quality old sh*t but sometimes promotional posts or "reviews". We do all we can to make sure we don't post stuff that (1) You can still reasonably buy from the artist directly, (2) You can reasonably buy secondhand for cheap, (3) You can download easily elsewhere, (4) The artist(s) asks us not to for any reason. Rips will include our own personal rips, old scene rips, and random web rips.

Ferocious41 - Behemoth Style (2007)

Ferocious 41 is a Swiss abstract effort that includes several rappers, a DJ and a saxophonist. What I could say about their music is never going to compare to the insert, pictured below, that came with this album. I will say that I found this an original and interesting listen. Dark industrial sounds with an art rap flare and a jazzy influence. Not for everybody, but I think if you like indie hip hop enough to have found UGF, you owe it to yourself to find out if this is your thing or not.

I discovered this group through Fai (one of the rappers), who some of you may be familiar with through the Mism (very dope label for those unfamiliar, run by some real hip hop heads) 7" series. She's featured on the A-Side song of mism07 "The Whispering Hip" with Bit Tuner. I liked the song and eventually found the group. I have all four of their current releases and have enjoyed them all.

Incidentally, the reason I chose to share this today is that they are coming out with a fifth out today, on their Bandcamp (located somewhere around here). Should be a great listen, four years in the making by some serious poets and musicians.

I hope you enjoy Ferocious41, or at least enjoy the process of discovering you don't...
