Underground Fossils was an indie rap focused blog run by myself (Dimxsk) and by Trylemma, who passed August 3rd, 2024 from liver failure of unknown origin at the age of 34. We mostly posted week or twice weekly, the bulk of which were rare rips we made, found on old blogs, he acquired through his insanely broad connection to the scene, etc. We did all we could to make sure we didn't post stuff that (1) You could still reasonably buy from the artist directly, (2) You could reasonably buy secondhand for cheap, (3) You could download easily elsewhere, (4) The artist(s) asked us not to for any reason. Being involved in this blog was some of the most fun I ever had, even if at times it was time consuming, challenging or intimidating (having a readership). It was the product of one of the best friendships I've ever had. If I could say one last thing, it's to encourage all of you: if you have the time and desire, make your own UGF. Find a friend who loves this shit like you do and build it together. It will bring you incredible joy, enhance your connection to this amazing community, and change your life in unexpected and exciting ways. I know it did mine. Love you all!

Everybody Knows - BBB Tour Mixtape (2014)

Today's upload is a little rarity from Everybody Knows (currently known as Eiji Kwan) of the Feo Faces - 2014's "BBB Tour Mixtape."

I don't know a ton about this one other than it was available on CDR at at least one show (with the Big Bang Collective.) The Big Bang guys had a penchant for loading up exclusive tracks on show cdrs and never releasing them again lol. This one is 11 tracks long and features some really great EK tracks that I wish got a proper release. If anyone has anymore info on this (or has a physical copy they wanna sell/trade) - let me know! Enjoy!

New Music: Eiji Kwan & Esem (Los Feo Faces) - The Brothers Gloom

New very dope project from Eiji Kwan (formerly known as Everybody Knows) and Esem (the two most active members of Los Feo Faces.)

While Eiji is no stranger to melancholy lyrics, I am a bit accustomed to hearing him bring in more upbeat, whimsical styles and flows, particularly when Esem is on the production. "The Brothers Gloom," however, is easily one of the darkest projects I've heard from either of the guys. Esem crafts a collection of cold, often haunting beats and EK, who recently left Portland for sunnier Bay Area weather, delivers some very chilling internal reflection raps. "My Son Looks 40 In The Face" is one of the best EK tracks of his career! A truly fitting fall project.

Everybody Knows - Traveler Music Pt. 2 (2012)

Another Friday, another upload. Today's entry is Everybody Knows' "Traveler Music Pt. 2" from 2012.

Everybody Knows, now going by Eiji Kwan, is a busy and multifaceted man. The rapper hails from Hawaii so he has ties to the Lightsleepers crew. He's released projects with Grimm Image and LA2TheBay so he has connects with the Cali underground. He currently resides in Portland, OR and is part of the Proper Knocks collective. He raps, he sings, he directs, he's part of various groups (Feo Faces, 7th Deadly, Big Bang,) and he's of course best known for his decade+ of battling - freestyle and written.

"Traveler Music Pt. 2" is a collection of 7 tracks that, with the exception of the opener "Armageddon" (which was uploaded to EK's Soundcloud,) was only available on the physical cd version of EK's 2012 album, "Alexander the Liar" (released via Grimm Image.) Since the CD is no longer being sold, we bring it to you now.

It's a shame that this was never released digitally. All 7 tracks are EK greatness - slightly off-kilter, laid back (though usually pretty technical) rhymes over a multitude of instrumental styles. Features include Nabahe, Cease2Exist, K-The-I???, and Tommy V. I'm not exactly sure if "Traveler Music Pt. 1" actually exists - I for one have never heard or seen it. If anyone has, drop a line below.

Enjoy the weekend! We've got some news coming next week regarding a small project we've been working on!
