Underground Fossils was an indie rap focused blog run by myself (Dimxsk) and by Trylemma, who passed August 3rd, 2024 from liver failure of unknown origin at the age of 34. We mostly posted week or twice weekly, the bulk of which were rare rips we made, found on old blogs, he acquired through his insanely broad connection to the scene, etc. We did all we could to make sure we didn't post stuff that (1) You could still reasonably buy from the artist directly, (2) You could reasonably buy secondhand for cheap, (3) You could download easily elsewhere, (4) The artist(s) asked us not to for any reason. Being involved in this blog was some of the most fun I ever had, even if at times it was time consuming, challenging or intimidating (having a readership). It was the product of one of the best friendships I've ever had. If I could say one last thing, it's to encourage all of you: if you have the time and desire, make your own UGF. Find a friend who loves this shit like you do and build it together. It will bring you incredible joy, enhance your connection to this amazing community, and change your life in unexpected and exciting ways. I know it did mine. Love you all!

Bomb Zombies - Sincerely Yours (2010)

As requested, today's upload is "Sincerely Yours" from the Bomb Zombies from 2010!

Bomb Zombies consisted of rapper Nocando (now AllxCityxJimmy) and producer DJ Nobody. The two Project Blowedians formed after touring together as founding residents of the Low End Theory (RIP) and dropped the project via Hellfyre Club. The name comes from the classic Freestyle Fellowship joint.

The project is essentially tour strip club music with a glitchy Low End Theory tinge and Nocando's amazing, often hilarious, rhymes. Customer Service buddy Kail also stops by for a verse. This was released on CD (which I was lucky enough to get a couple copies of before they disappeared) and I believe was put up for a free download at some point. This "deluxe" version has the bonus track "Bangs" as well as the instrumentals for all of the tracks.

Unfortunately, Bomb Zombies no longer exists. Time obviously draws people apart, but this break up was not so pretty. No need to get into the details, but I don't think Nocan and Nobody are on speaking terms anymore, which is a real shame as they're both really talented guys. Anyhow, relive the old times and peep the project below!

New Music: VA - Project Blowed Hardcore Street Hop Division Vol. 2

Here's a new one for you!

Seemingly out of nowhere, we get a follow up to the Ellay Khule curated 2014 "Street Hop Division" compilation. And, even more so than the original, Khule has brought out a lot of Blowed vets/affiliates to grace the album including Jizzm, AllCityJimmy (fka Nocando,) Alph Tha Alien (fka Alpha MC,) Myka 9, Mister CR, Ngafsh, Gel Roc, Quaesar, Monstroe, and many others. German legend Taktloss even stops by!

As noted, I'm not really sure the origins of this project, but I think it might have been released on the hype derived from the recent Project Blowed vs Talib Kweli beef. The recent diss track "Overkill" from Khule and Myka 9 appears on the album as the first single. A lot of the tracks (based on pop culture references) seem to be newly recorded as well.

I'm not a huge fan of the limited production on this one (especially at 19 tracks deep,) but I will never not love the chopper styles that these guys bring. Stream it below (I believe Khule will have CDs available soon as well.)

New Music: Blowed Old and New: Volume 10 - Brain Damage and AllCityJimmy - DRFTR

Aside from Ngafsh's latest terrific project, a couple other Blowedians have blessed us recently with new albums.

First is OG Volume 10's new one, "Brain Damage." The Pistolgrip Pump king has been releasing weird compilations over the past couple of years, but this one, put out by The Order Label and Alpha Pup, is his first real proper album release in well over a decade. The album is interlaced with mock-interview interludes which do get a bit tedious, but the album's meat and potatoes are more than worth a listen, with Volume 10's energy and presence on the mic being as strong as ever.

We also recently got a surprise drop from AllCityJimmy, formerly known as Nocando (aka my favorite rapper) - "DRFTR." The 7 track project technically consists of tracks that got cut from an upcoming release, but there's really no filler to be found here. Name change or not, Jimmy's newfound dark and moody song-writing and delivery is really top notch. The standout track is easily "Mobbin" where Jimmy connects with the older Blowed vets and delivers a killer posse cut alongside Rifleman, Mister CR, and Myka 9.
