Underground Fossils was an indie rap focused blog run by myself (Dimxsk) and by Trylemma, who passed August 3rd, 2024 from liver failure of unknown origin at the age of 34. We mostly posted week or twice weekly, the bulk of which were rare rips we made, found on old blogs, he acquired through his insanely broad connection to the scene, etc. We did all we could to make sure we didn't post stuff that (1) You could still reasonably buy from the artist directly, (2) You could reasonably buy secondhand for cheap, (3) You could download easily elsewhere, (4) The artist(s) asked us not to for any reason. Being involved in this blog was some of the most fun I ever had, even if at times it was time consuming, challenging or intimidating (having a readership). It was the product of one of the best friendships I've ever had. If I could say one last thing, it's to encourage all of you: if you have the time and desire, make your own UGF. Find a friend who loves this shit like you do and build it together. It will bring you incredible joy, enhance your connection to this amazing community, and change your life in unexpected and exciting ways. I know it did mine. Love you all!

3NP! - Family Maxi-Single (1997)

Today we bring you 3NP!'s "Family" maxi-single from 1997!

3NP! was a group/crew headed up by MG! The Visionary, named after his record label "Third Nail Productions." The group mainly consisted of MG! himself but also included some guest spots throughout the years, most notably Smoke from Oldominion. The vibe, like early Oldominion, was Christian, though not overtly preachy or self-serious.

This single is taken from 3NP!'s debut album, also from 1997, "Poetically Consecrated." It features the title track taken from "Poetically Consecrated," a nice edit, a cool remix, a couple skits, and an exclusive track to this release called "The Transcending." Pretty nifty stuff. MG! handles all roles on this one.

While we're at it though - anyone else miss maxi-singles? Lots of cool stuff to be found on those. Peep it below!

  2. Thank you a lot for all your posts!
The audio quality is pretty bad for a cd, it's not even at 256kbps. Could perchance be an old rip?

    1. I apologize for the quality. I own the CD but the rip was sent to me by the person who I purchased the CD from and has been fine for my purposes all these years. I'll likely eventually make a scene-proof rip of my own eventually, but not likely anytime soon.

    2. It sounds alright to me as well. I have many other rips that are much worse but still good enough to listen to.

    3. Thank you, Trylemma. No problem, I'll download it again next time. I'm a bit picky about audio quality, just that. That said, what you are doing here is great enough!
